Leadership Newspapers Names Nduka Obaigbena, Abdul Samad Rabiu Persons Of The Year 2026

Leadership Newspapers honours media mogul Nduka Obaigbena and business magnate Abdul Samad Rabiu as Persons Of The Year 2026 for national impact.

Leadership Newspapers has named the chairman of the THISDAY Group and founder of Arise News, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, and the chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, as its Persons of the Year 2026.

The newspaper announced the recognition on the cover of its Tuesday, September 1, 2026 edition, citing the duo’s contributions to institution-building, talent development, innovation, investment, job creation and philanthropy.

According to the newspaper, Obaigbena and Rabiu are being honoured for “building influential institutions, nurturing talent, challenging convention, and breaking new ground” in their respective fields.

Obaigbena is specifically recognised for his role in expanding Nigeria’s media landscape, including the launch of the social media application, Leekelee, in February 2026.

The newspaper also highlighted Rabiu’s contributions through BUA Group, particularly his investments in manufacturing and local production, as well as efforts in creating jobs, developing infrastructure and delivering value to shareholders.

Leadership further cited the businessmen’s philanthropic activities and their contributions to strengthening confidence in Nigeria’s future as reasons for the recognition.

The newspaper described the award as a recognition of their influence and impact on Nigeria’s economic and social development.
