Labour Party: Arabambi Not  Our Member Or Edo Indigene, Has No Right To Determine Governorship Aspirant

The party urged guber candidate Akpata and his supporters to dismiss Arabambi’s publication.

The Labour Party in Edo State has debunked the claims made by Abayomi Arabambi who reported that the party had warned Edo State governorship aspirant, Olumide Akpata, to back off from the upcoming 2024 Edo state gubernatorial election.

In a statement that was released through the Publicity Secretary and Image maker of the Edo State Labour Party, Comrade Sam Uroupa, the party asked the public to disregard the statements made by Arabambi, saying that he (Arabambi), is an expelled member of the Labour Party, and is also not an indigene or a registered voter of Edo State, and as such, he has no jurisdiction to determine who runs for the seat of the Edo State governor.

Uroupa said that “that Edo State Labour Party as led by Comr. Kelly Ogbaloi did not at any point in time issued any warning to Barr. Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata or any other frontline Aspirant to stay off Edo Governorship Race as claimed by Abayomi Arabambi.”

The statement also clarified that the claim that the Edo State LP leadership accused Akpata of serving as an operative in Godwin Obaseki’s is “false and baseless”, saying, “In one of Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata News Letter with the Caption “Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata is His Own Man” wherein he, Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata debunked the claim that he is being sponsored by the incumbent Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party as being ‘entirely baseless and untrue.’”

The party then said, “Edo State Labour Party is using this media to make it categorically clear that the former NBA President, Barr. Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata is among the top aspirants for the Edo Governorship Race without any encumbrances.  We therefore urge Barr. Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, his supporters and the general public to ignore news publication emanating from the said Mr. Abayomi Arabambi and his cohort.”
