Kano Emir Sanusi Hosts Christian Leaders, Preaches Peace, Religious Unity

Emir Sanusi reaffirms commitment to peace and interfaith harmony while hosting Pentecostal Fellowship leaders in Kano.

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace, security and inter-religious harmony in Kano State and across Nigeria.

The Emir spoke when he received the Executive members and Elders of the Kano State Chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) on a courtesy visit to his palace in Kano.

Sanusi recalled his early exposure to Christian education, noting that he attended a Catholic school as a young man, an experience he said helped shape his appreciation for religious coexistence.

While thanking God for the prevailing peace in Kano State, the Emir urged religious leaders to intensify prayers for sustained harmony, particularly in light of recent security concerns affecting some border communities.

He encouraged continued interfaith cooperation and stressed the role of religious leaders in fostering unity and stability at both state and national levels.

The Emir also expressed appreciation for the Peace Award presented to him by the PFN, assuring the delegation of his continued support and openness to engaging with Christian communities in the state.

Earlier, the Kano State Chairman of the PFN, Rev. Elkanah Enweluzor, said the visit was to identify with the Emir’s leadership and his consistent efforts at sustaining peace in the state.

“We cannot but acknowledge that your fatherly posture and leadership have been instrumental to the peace we all enjoy in Kano State,” Enweluzor said.

He explained that the PFN’s Award of Excellence conferred on the Emir recognises his commitment to peace, stability, inter-religious harmony, and the overall welfare of the people of Kano State.
