The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports claiming it held meetings with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf over securing an automatic governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in a telephone interview, the party’s Secretary, Alhaji Zakari Sarina, described the reports as baseless rumours allegedly peddled by “enemies of Kano” seeking to destabilise political relations in the state.
Sarina insisted that the APC never held discussions with the governor regarding any automatic ticket arrangement, stressing that the party remains open to welcoming Yusuf whenever he decides to join.
According to him, speculation about secret assurances or negotiations should be ignored, adding that the party would not be distracted by attempts to create unnecessary tension.
He urged the public and party supporters to remain calm and focus on governance and development issues affecting Kano State, assuring that the APC is working toward a smooth and inclusive political process.
The denial comes amid continued speculation over possible political realignments involving the governor, which party officials insist remain unconfirmed.
