Kano Airport Restores Flights After Flybird Plane Crash-Landing

Normal operations have resumed at Kano airport after a Flybird aircraft crash-landed with no casualties reported.

Normal operations have resumed at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) following a plane crash involving 11 passengers and three crew members on Sunday.

The incident occurred during landing when the aircraft’s nose wheel developed a technical fault, preventing a smooth touchdown and briefly disrupting airport activities.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that the Flybird Airlines aircraft, which arrived from Abuja, encountered difficulties upon landing. Emergency response teams were immediately activated, ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew, with no injuries or casualties reported.

Airport authorities swiftly secured the runway and deployed safety and technical teams to assess the situation and commence investigations into the cause of the incident.

Sources at the airport confirmed that the affected aircraft was successfully cleared from the runway a few hours later, allowing incoming and outgoing flights to resume as scheduled.

Officials said efforts were made to minimise disruption to travellers, noting that the airport has since returned to full operational status.

Passengers and airlines have been advised to proceed with their travel plans as normal, as security and safety remain top priorities at MAKIA, while investigations into the incident continue.
