Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Reopens After Fire Incident

“Further to our earlier statement, we’re pleased to announce that Terminal 1E at JKIA is now fully operational.”

A section of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Terminal 1E has reopened after being temporarily closed due to a fire, the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) announced on Monday.

In a recent update, the KAA confirmed Terminal 1E’s (T1E) full operational status, adding, “Further to our earlier statement, we’re pleased to announce that Terminal 1E (T1E) at JKIA is now fully operational.”

The incident occurred on Monday morning and was caused by an electrical problem in Terminal 1E at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

KAA reassured the public that the issue was quickly resolved, with no recorded injuries or casualties.

Terminal 1E’s power was momentarily turned off as a precaution to safeguard the safety of all individuals on the grounds.

To minimize inconvenience, all flight arrivals have been rerouted to Terminal 1A until further notice. Passengers and workers were quickly removed from the impacted area.

Terminal 1E serves various international carriers, including British Airways, Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Lufthansa.

The reopening of Terminal 1E marks a significant step in restoring normalcy to operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport following the unfortunate incident.
