The Lagos State Joint Public Service Negotiating Council has commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu for approving a 100 percent end of year bonus for public servants and presenting car gifts to outstanding officers.
In a press statement issued on 19 December 2025, the trade union side of the council described the gestures as significant steps that demonstrate the governor’s commitment to workers welfare and motivation across the state public service.
The statement said the governor approved and implemented “a 100% End of Year Bonus for Lagos State public servants in the 2025 service year, as well as for presenting car gifts to outstanding officers.”
The council, led by Comrade Domingo Michael Adeleke as chairman and Comrade Biodun Bakare as secretary, said the initiatives were “landmark milestones that reaffirm the Governor’s unwavering dedication to public sector welfare, productivity, and motivation.”
According to the JNC, the bonus will be disbursed in two phases, with “50% with the December 2025 salary and 50% with the January 2026 salary,” noting that the structure reflects sensitivity to prevailing economic conditions and the need to ease financial pressure on workers during the festive season and the new year.
The council also praised the award of car gifts to exemplary public servants, describing it as “a strategic incentive to reward merit, deepen innovation, and reinforce a culture of excellence, accountability, and service delivery across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.”
The statement added that the interventions “go beyond routine administrative decisions and represent morale boosting measures capable of strengthening industrial harmony, loyalty, and performance.”
The JNC said the development highlights the importance of constructive engagement and sustained social dialogue between the Lagos State Government and organised labour.
It pledged continued partnership with the Sanwo Olu administration to promote policies that improve workers welfare and service delivery, while urging public servants to respond with “renewed professionalism, commitment, and dedication in service to the people of Lagos State.”
The statement was e signed by Comrade Biodun Bakare, Secretary of the Lagos State JNC, trade union side.
