The Jigawa State Police Command has stepped up security operations across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The command said tactical teams, undercover operatives and bomb disposal officers had been deployed to key locations to ensure a peaceful Sallah.
Police spokesperson, Lawan Shiisu Adam, said the Commissioner of Police, Haruna Yahaya, ordered stronger security measures before, during and after the celebration.
According to the statement, personnel from the Violent Crime Response Unit, Patrol Teams, Intelligence Units, Traffic Department, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit and Police Mobile Force have been deployed across the state.
The officers are expected to cover Eid prayer grounds, markets, highways, motor parks, recreational centres and other public places.
The command said it was also working with other security agencies to increase surveillance patrols, stop-and-search operations and intelligence gathering.
Yahaya directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical teams to remain alert and respond quickly to emergencies.
The police urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could help prevent crime.
Parents were also advised to warn their children against reckless driving, dangerous horse riding and drug abuse during the festive period.
The command assured residents that security measures had been put in place to protect lives and property throughout the celebration.
