The Director of Sales and Marketing at Eko Hotels and Suites, Dr. Iyadunni Gbadebo, says theatre has become a major driver of the hotel’s holiday entertainment strategy, particularly within its Tropical Christmas Wonderland experience.

Gbadebo explained that what began as a supplementary entertainment offering has grown into a core demand generator for the hotel’s festive season packages.

In the last seven years, we started something called the Tropical Christmas Wonderland Family Holiday Experience,” she said.

According to her, the initiative was originally designed to offer visitors a broader cultural and entertainment experience beyond accommodation and hospitality services.

“The idea was to sort of give, you know, Nigerian audiences, you know, diasporans especially, and the West an opportunity to explore Africa in a different way.”

Gbadebo noted that theatre was introduced after the hotel identified a growing demand for live entertainment among guests.

She added that theatre has now evolved into a key attraction within the hotel’s holiday programming.

“We found that one of the things that people really wanted was entertainment.”

“Seven years down the line, it is one of the major things that is driving the market for us for Tropical Christmas Wonderland.”

“People are constantly looking to what shows are we doing next?”

She said audience interest has shifted significantly, with growing attention on live stage productions as part of the hotel’s seasonal offerings.

Gbadebo explained that the hotel has expanded its theatre production approach beyond traditional indoor staging, opting for larger immersive outdoor experiences designed to accommodate thousands of guests during festive periods.
