Israel’s Defence Minister Warns Houthis Of Severe Retaliation If Attacks Continue

Israel has warned Houthis of severe retaliation if attacks continue, vowing readiness to strike Iran-backed threats across the region.

Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, on Thursday issued a strong warning to Yemen’s Houthi movement, vowing severe retaliation if the group continues its attacks against Israel. He stated that the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) are fully prepared to carry out any mission necessary to defend the nation.

“The Houthis will suffer heavy blows from Israel if they continue to fire at us,” Katz wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Israel must be able to defend itself on its own against any threat and any enemy.”

His comments came just days after US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would cease airstrikes on the Iran-aligned Houthis in Yemen, following an apparent agreement by the group to halt attacks on American vessels. However, the Houthis made it clear that the ceasefire deal with the US does not extend to Israel. On Wednesday, they confirmed that they had targeted Israel using drones.

Katz also directed pointed criticism at Iran, accusing its leadership of backing the Houthi rebels through financial and military support. “The proxy system is over,” he declared. “The axis of evil has collapsed.”

He warned that Iran could face direct consequences similar to those already imposed on its regional allies, referencing Israeli military actions against Hezbollah in Beirut, Hamas in Gaza, Assad’s regime in Damascus, and the Houthis in Yemen. Katz suggested that similar strikes could reach Tehran itself if provocations continue.

The escalating rhetoric highlights the growing complexity of Middle East tensions, as Iran’s proxy network remains a focal point of conflict for both Israel and its Western allies.
