The conduct of the just concluded Anambra State governorship poll once again brought to the fore the inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission to hold hitch-free elections in Nigeria.
As usual, several voters were forced to wait for many hours or were completely disenfranchised due to either the late arrival of personnel and materials at the polling units or malfunctioning Bimodal Voter Accreditation System devices.
This left many observers wondering whether INEC has the capacity to conduct a nationwide election without problems.

Mr Igini, among other issues, also talks about the Electoral Act (Amendment) Act, especially the tug of war between the state governors and federal legislators, who in amending the Act, made the conduct of direct primaries mandatory for all political parties in the selection of candidates seeking elective positions.
