Honduran Authorities Issue International Warrant For Former President Hernández

Honduras has issued an international arrest warrant for former President Hernández over money laundering, following his recent US pardon.

The Honduran Attorney General announced on Monday night that an international arrest warrant has been issued for former President Juan Orlando Hernández, who was recently pardoned by US President Donald Trump and released from federal prison in the United States
.
In a post on social media, Attorney General Johel Antonio Zelaya Alvarez stated that he had instructed government agencies and Interpol to carry out the warrant. Hernández faces charges of money laundering and fraud connected to his first presidential campaign more than a decade ago.

The development marks a dramatic turn in the legal proceedings against Hernández, who has previously faced scrutiny in both Honduras and the United States over alleged corruption and ties to criminal networks.

Authorities have not yet provided details on when or where Hernández might be apprehended, but the international nature of the warrant signals Honduras’ determination to pursue legal action despite his recent pardon and US release.
