One of the world’s most active volcanoes in Hawaii has erupted once again, sending spectacular fountains of lava soaring up to 1,000 feet (300 metres) high, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reported.

Since the initial eruption on December 23, volcanic activity around the site has been intermittent, with eruptions lasting anywhere from just 13 hours to as long as eight days.

“The lava fountains reaching these incredible heights highlight the ongoing power and unpredictability of this volcano,” said a spokesperson from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. “While the activity fluctuates, the volcano remains closely monitored to ensure public safety.”
