Governor Abba Yusuf has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general election, following his endorsement at the party’s state congress.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, Yusuf pledged to deliver Kano State decisively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election.
He said the APC structure in the state had been repositioned to mobilise grassroots support and ensure a strong electoral outing for the party in 2027.
“I am deeply honoured by this endorsement and the support shown by delegates and party faithful across the state. This victory belongs to all the people of Kano,” the governor stated.
Yusuf explained that his decision to seek another term was driven by his administration’s “Kano First” agenda, which he said was focused on accelerating development and improving the welfare of citizens across the state.
The governor also commended the APC leadership for what he described as a seamless and well-coordinated consensus arrangement during the congress.
The exercise attracted several prominent APC leaders, including members of the National Assembly, party executives, and other influential stakeholders.
Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, moved the motion for Yusuf’s adoption as the party’s candidate.
Chairman of the Congress Committee, Alhaji Mukhtar Shagari, described the endorsement as a reflection of confidence in the governor’s leadership and developmental efforts.
According to him, Yusuf’s administration has prioritised grassroots development and brought governance closer to communities across the state.
The Kano APC congress comes amid ongoing primary elections across the country as political parties prepare for the 2027 general election.
