Gas Explosion In Iranian City Of Qom Injures Seven, Authorities Rule Out Terrorism

A gas explosion in Iran’s city of Qom, injured seven people with officials blaming a leak and ruling out terrorism

An explosion at a residential building in the Iranian city of Qom injured at least seven people on Monday, Iranian state media has reported. Officials have attributed the blast to a gas leak, dismissing any suggestion of terrorist involvement.

According to Qom’s Governor, Akbar Behnamjoo, the explosion occurred in the Pardisan neighbourhood and was not related to any form of sabotage or militant activity. “The cause of the explosion in a residential building of Pardisan was not terrorism,” Behnamjoo said in a statement quoted by state media.

The city’s fire department confirmed that four residential units were damaged in the blast. The director of the fire department told the semi-official Fars news agency that preliminary investigations indicated a gas leak as the likely cause, though further assessments are ongoing.

This incident comes amid a series of gas-related explosions in Iran, following the conclusion of a 12-day air conflict last month between Iran, Israel, and the United States—an escalation that targeted several of Iran’s nuclear facilities. Despite recent tensions, authorities have not linked the string of gas explosions to external attacks.

The explosion has raised fresh concerns about public safety infrastructure and emergency preparedness in the country. Iranian officials have promised a full investigation into the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
