Former ARISE News Anchor Ikokwu Dumps ADC For NDC

Former ARISE News anchor Constance Ikokwu joins NDC from ADC, saying decision positions her to serve constituency effectively ahead of primaries.

Former Arise News anchor and House of Representatives aspirant, Dr. Chiogo Constance Ikokwu, has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

In a statement titled “A Strategic Realignment for Purposeful Service,” Ikokwu said the last few days had been hectic due to limited time before party primaries. She said the decision was difficult, given ongoing political changes in Anambra State.

“I had to make a quick and tough decision to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) after careful reflection. With the level of uncertainty, shifting alliances, and ongoing realignments across the political space, it is important to find a platform that is stable, forward-looking, and aligned with the vision for meaningful engagement. As part of these broader movements, key elements of the coalition I identify with, found a home within the NDC, making this transition both timely and necessary.”

She said the move was focused on positioning herself to serve her constituency effectively.

“Ultimately, my focus remains clear: to reach the destination where I can effectively serve the people. This move is about positioning, ensuring that I am on a platform that offers the right atmosphere, strength, and opportunity needed to translate commitment into tangible service and impact for my constituency.”

Ikokwu said she remains committed to accountable leadership and people-centred governance. She also asked for support from those who share her vision.

She ended her statement with her mantra: “Politics for Public Good. Take Back Your Government.”
