Floyd Mayweather Raises Uncertainty Over Planned Rematch With Manny Pacquiao

Mayweather says Pacquiao rematch may not happen, with venue uncertain and bout now described as exhibition rather than professional fight.

Floyd Mayweather has cast doubt over his proposed rematch with Manny Pacquiao, saying the fight may not take place as planned and would be an exhibition rather than a professional bout.

Speaking during a public appearance at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Mayweather said uncertainty remains over both the venue and nature of the contest, which had been slated for Sept. 19.

“As of right now, we don’t know exactly where the fight is going to be at,” Mayweather said. “We don’t know the location of the fight… And this is not actually a fight. It’s an exhibition.”

The comments contradict earlier announcements, including a February reveal tied to Netflix and statements indicating a return to professional boxing under a multi-fight agreement.

Pacquiao’s camp has previously insisted he would only face Mayweather in a sanctioned bout. The Filipino legend last fought in a majority draw against Mario Barrios after ending his retirement.

Mayweather, 49, also suggested plans for other exhibition bouts remain uncertain, including a previously announced clash with Mike Tyson and another with Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis in Athens, both lacking confirmed dates or venues.

“It’s an exhibition, so we’re both winners,” Mayweather added. “We just want to go out there and entertain the people and put on a good show.”
