First Lady Tinubu Urges Nigerian Youths To Dream Big And Work Hard, Donates 50 Buses To OAU

Oluremi Tinubu inspires youths at OAU as she inaugurates digital library and donates 50 shuttle buses.

Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has charged Nigerian youths to dream big and work diligently towards turning their aspirations into reality.

She gave the charge on Thursday at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, during the inauguration of the Oluremi Tinubu Dream Centre, a digital library built by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, in her honour and digitised by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

According to the First Lady, the centre represents a significant milestone in her lifelong commitment to inspiring future generations to pursue purpose-driven lives.

She said: “The Ooni wanted young girls to come here to learn a bit of how I got here. That is interesting. I have always dreamt of being a teacher and I achieved that dream. But I did not stop there; I kept on dreaming and here I am today.

“I dreamt about the type of wife I wanted to be, the kind of mother I wanted to be, and I didn’t stop there. I allowed God to help me.”

Mrs Tinubu expressed optimism that the fully digitised centre, designed to be fit for purpose, would serve as a modern-day innovation hub and mentorship space. She said the facility includes a library, digital museum, dream room, innovation hub, studio, mentorship room and tech garden.

“These sections come together as one, reflecting the power of dreams, imagination and inspiration as forces for change and personal growth. I encourage young people to visit the centre, build their dreams and pursue them without being overly ambitious,” she said.

The First Lady also used the occasion to promote student welfare and improve campus transportation by redeeming her 2024 pledge with the donation of 50 brand new shuttle buses and 40 tricycles to the university.

The intervention followed her earlier donation of N1 billion to the institution in October 2024 in support of infrastructure and student development.

Earlier in his remarks, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, said the Dream Centre was inspired by the First Lady’s enduring legacy of service and commitment to humanity.

“The mother of the nation has done so much for humanity over two decades. What was once a pavilion for students has now been upgraded to serve a higher purpose—an innovative space where Nigerian youths can dare to dream,” the monarch said.
