The National Sports Commission (NSC) says all Super Falcons players, coaches and officials who participated in Nigeria’s 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph have received their promised cash rewards from the Federal Government.
In a statement on Monday, the NSC said the naira equivalent of $100,000 had been paid directly into the accounts of each player, while officials received $50,000 each.
President Bola Tinubu had pledged the rewards after the Falcons secured their 10th WAFCON title.
Nigeria defeated hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final after coming from two goals down to complete a remarkable comeback and claim the continental trophy.
The tournament was originally scheduled for 2024 but was postponed to 2025.
The players were also promised a three-bedroom apartment each in the Renewed Hope Estate in Abuja and national honours of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
The Federal Government had earlier fulfilled its housing promise to the Falcons at the beginning of the 2026 WAFCON in July.
The latest payment completes the outstanding cash component of the presidential rewards promised to the team following their continental triumph.
In September 2026, the Federal Government also paid the naira equivalent of $100,000 to each D’Tigress player and $50,000 to each official following their 2024 Afrobasket victory.
The basketball team also received its promised housing earlier in the year.
