Eyesan Takes Charge As NUPRC Chief, Sets Ambitious Oil Production Target For Nigeria

New NUPRC boss Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan assumes office, pledging reforms, higher oil and gas output, and renewed upstream investment.

The newly appointed Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, has officially assumed office, pledging to drive the growth of Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector in line with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021.

In a statement issued by the Head of Media and Strategic Communications, Eniola Akinkuotu, Eyesan outlined her vision at her first meeting with management and staff, stressing plans to reposition the Commission as a business enabler and rekindle investment in the upstream industry.

She announced a bold production target aimed at increasing Nigeria’s crude oil output while significantly boosting gas production to support national energy goals.

With over three decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, Eyesan pledged to strengthen digitisation, transparency and operational efficiency across the Commission.

The Commission Chief Executive expressed confidence that, with the support of staff and management, the NUPRC would emerge as Africa’s gold-standard upstream regulator. She also promised enhanced capacity development, deeper technical expertise, and sustained engagement with stakeholders, unions and professional bodies.
