Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai said on a radio programme in Kaduna that President Muhammadu Bujari was not aware of a threat by terrorists to abduct him until he informed him.

“We must rise up to deal with these people. This is why I met with the president on Sunday and told him about these problems. I also told him about the video because up to that day he was not even aware,” El-Rufai said.

ARISE News Anchor Tundun Abiola said during a chat on the Morning Show that the President being unaware of threats by terrorists to abduct him is scary and that if he is not aware of threats made against him, then he is blindly unaware of threats made against the rest of us.

“We are really in perilous times and it can be linked to the Kuje prison break and as expected, terrorist activity has escalated in that area and where is next? While the President has no idea he’s being threatened.”

She added that this makes him look indifferent and clueless, and wondered how the commander-in-chief is not able to glance at a newspaper headline to know what is going on.

Meanwhile, Co-Anchor Rufai Oseni said that “the President needs to be aware and speak up because this is doom we’re seeing and we’re just playing.”

On his part, Reuben Abati addressed the issue of the President not being aware of the threats and he said that he finds it hard to believe that the President of Nigeria would be unaware of a threat to abduct him because of the structure that is in place.

He suspects that the statement may have been over-exaggerated by the Governor of Kaduna State.

“I suspect that the Governor of Kaduna State was exaggerating to emphasize the seriousness of the issue.

“The government needs to be more proactive in tackling terrorism in the country, they are too relaxed,” He said.

Nasir El-Rufai explained that he has been warned to thread carefully and he’s taking the necessary actions to protect his family and himself.
