Dolly Parton travelled to Germany for an experimental cancer treatment about a year before her death, according to reports.
The music icon is said to have privately battled cancer during the final year of her life and sought treatment in Germany.
Sources familiar with the situation told reporters that Parton flew by private jet to Frankfurt for the treatment.
The exact procedure remains unclear. Sources said Parton stayed in Germany for about a week before returning home.
They also said Parton believed the treatment had helped restore her strength and felt it had been effective.
Parton died on August 25 following what sources described as a private battle with cancer.
People close to the singer reportedly knew she had been ill, although her condition was not widely known publicly.
Sources said that relatives and close friends rushed to Nashville after learning Parton had been hospitalised and was seriously unwell.
Her family later held a private ceremony, and she was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville.
