David Mark: I Remain ADC Chairman, No Plans To Resign

David Mark insists he remains ADC chairman, describes resignation claims as false and politically motivated misinformation.

The African Democratic Congress faction led by David Mark has dismissed as false and malicious reports alleging that he has stepped down from his position.

Describing the claim as “an insidious fabrication” orchestrated by what it termed “puerile, weak, and inconsiderate propagandists,” the party reaffirmed that the former Senate President remains its substantive National Chairman.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, the ADC said there is no contemplation whatsoever of Mark’s resignation, either by him or the party’s leadership.

“The assertion that Senator David Mark has stepped down exists only in the warped imagination of those bent on spreading falsehood and creating confusion within our party,” the statement read.

The party further emphasised that its leadership remains united, focused, and resolute in its mission to strengthen democratic values and provide credible leadership to Nigerians.

The ADC also warned against attempts to destabilise the party, noting that such efforts are driven by fear of its growing influence and emerging political permutations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The ADC, its leadership, and the majority of Nigerians are unbending in their collective determination to resist any plot aimed at undermining Nigeria’s multi-party democracy or imposing a one-party system,” the statement added.

Reaffirming its commitment to democratic ideals, the party called on Nigerians to disregard the rumours and remain confident in its leadership and stability.
