Chicago State University Agrees To Release Tinubu’s Credentials If Court Grants Application

The PDP tweeted that this would play a significant role in the petition before the court.

Chicago State University (CSU) has stated that it will reveal President Bola Tinubu’s academic records if the United States (US) court grants application.

This is in response to an application filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential Candidate for the 2023 Elections, Atiku Abubakar, to release Tinubu’s credentials.

The university stated that “the scope and relevancy of certain of Abubakar’s requests are clearly inappropriate,” but if any discovery is authorised following the court’s decision on the application, the university will meet and consult with Atiku’s counsel promptly and “in good faith” to attempt to address all of the University’s concerns.

The institution also mentioned its uncertainty about how the requested information pertains to the 2023 election challenge in “a foreign country.” However, it stated, “it is premature for the University to raise objections to the scope of the documents and information sought in Abubakar’s two subpoenas.

“Finally, in the event the Court determines to allow any discovery to proceed here, the University urges the Court to direct only limited, targeted discovery on the University.”

This information was realised from a tweet by PDP’s official page stating, “This is now official.

“The Chicago State University in the United States of America, in response to the application filed by the @OfficialPDPNig and its Presidential Candidate in the February 25, 2023 Election, @Atiku has agreed to release the credentials of Bola A. Tinubu.

“Nigerians and members of the international community are eagerly waiting for this information as this will form greater part of the decision making process of the petition before the court.”

President Tinubu previously filed a request to prevent a US Federal Court from revealing his university academic records to Mr Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opposition candidate in the 2023 elections.

The president earlier submitted the credentials when he officially began his defence in a petition brought against his election triumph by PDP’s presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku, and his party.

Tinubu presented the documents, which included the admission letter, through his counsel, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), to demonstrate that he attended and graduated from The Chicago State University.
