Chelsea have agreed a British-record £117 million deal to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, beating competition from Arsenal to secure one of England’s most highly rated young attackers.
According to David Ornstein, the two Premier League clubs have reached a verbal agreement, while Rogers has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea Football Club, on a six-year contract with the option of a further year. The 23-year-old is expected to undergo a medical on Monday before the transfer is officially completed.
Rogers enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Villa Park, establishing himself as one of the league’s standout attacking players with his pace, versatility and creativity. His impressive performances also earned him a regular place in the England squad.
The transfer surpasses the previous British transfer record and underlines Chelsea’s determination to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The Blues view Rogers as a key addition to their long-term project.
