Ceasefire Offers Limited Hormuz Shipping Opportunities, Says Maersk

Maersk says ceasefire may allow limited Hormuz transits but warns maritime security remains uncertain.

Danish shipping giant Maersk said a ceasefire between the US and Iran could open limited transit opportunities in the Strait of Hormuz.

Maersk said the ceasefire between the United States and Iran may create opportunities for vessels to resume transits through the Strait of Hormuz, though it warned that maritime conditions remain uncertain.

The conflict, which escalated after US-Israeli strikes on Iran in February and subsequent Iranian retaliation across the region, led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz a critical global shipping route and brought maritime activity in the Gulf close to a halt, disrupting international supply chains.

In a statement, Maersk said any decision to resume operations in the waterway would depend on ongoing risk assessments, real time monitoring of the security situation, and guidance from relevant authorities and partners.

The company stressed that it is maintaining a cautious stance and has not yet made changes to its services, underscoring the fragile nature of the ceasefire and continued uncertainty in the region.
