Breaking: INEC Declares Oyebanji Winner Of Ekiti Governorship Election

APC’s Oyebanji is re-elected Ekiti governor in a landslide with 319,224 votes,  defeating PDP and ADC candidates who scored 40,543 and 12,872 respectively. 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election.

Oyebanji secured a decisive victory, polling 319,224 votes to defeat his closest rivals from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to the results announced by INEC, the PDP candidate garnered 40,543 votes, while the ADC candidate secured 12,872 votes.

The APC candidate won all 16 local government areas of the state, recording particularly strong performances in Ado-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ekiti West, Ikole and Ijero local government areas.

In Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area, Oyebanji polled 38,026 votes, while he secured 29,278 votes in Irepodun/Ifelodun, 28,258 votes in Ekiti West, 26,508 votes in Ikole and 25,506 votes in Ijero.

The PDP’s strongest showing came in Ikere Local Government Area, where it polled 9,892 votes against the APC’s 11,116 votes.

INEC said a total of 384,940 voters were accredited for the election, while total valid votes stood at 375,777.

The commission also announced that 6,332 votes were rejected, bringing the total number of votes cast to 382,109.

The declaration confirms Oyebanji’s re-election and grants him another term as governor of Ekiti State.
