President Bola Tinubu has condemned the gruesome murder of a housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children in Chiranci community, Kano State, describing the incident as barbaric and heartbreaking.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the Nigeria Police Force for the swift arrest of the principal suspects linked to the killings.
Tinubu ordered a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of those responsible, stressing that justice must be served to deter similar crimes.
The President expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Kano State, noting that the loss of innocent lives was a tragedy that has shaken the nation.
In the same statement, Tinubu also mourned the passing of a prominent Kano businessman and community leader, Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, who died last weekend.
The late Abdulaziz was the National President of the Harmonised Traders Association of Nigeria and a respected figure across several commerce-related unions.
Tinubu described Abdulaziz’s death as a significant loss not only to the Kano business community but to Nigeria at large, given his influence on commerce and national development.
The President recalled the late business leader’s support during the 2023 presidential campaign and his consistent advocacy for national unity through the Patriotic Elders Network for Peace (PENP), which he founded.
He condoled with the family of the deceased, the Kano business community and the Kano State Government, praying for comfort for all affected.
