The White House has confirmed that Armenia and Azerbaijan will sign a long-anticipated peace agreement, with the US President Donald Trump set to host the leaders of both nations at a formal signing ceremony.
The announcement marks a major milestone in efforts to end decades of conflict between the two South Caucasus nations, which have clashed repeatedly over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.
“This isn’t just about Armenia. It’s not just about Azerbaijan. It’s about the entire region,” a senior administration official said.
“And they know that that region is known to be safer and more prosperous with President Trump.”
The peace deal comes after months of behind-the-scenes diplomacy led by Trump and his team, though specific terms of the agreement have not yet been publicly disclosed.
White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said that Trump would also sign separate bilateral agreements with both Armenia and Azerbaijan. The deals will reportedly cover energy, technology, economic cooperation, border security, infrastructure, and trade, though no further details were provided.
The signing ceremony is expected to be a symbolic moment in US foreign policy and a significant diplomatic win for Trump, who has been positioning himself as a global peacemaker amid his continued political activities.
