Troops of 32 Artillery Brigade kill two suspects in Ondo gun battle, recover rifle, ammunition and other items.

Troops of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army have neutralised two suspected armed terrorists during a tactical operation along the Akunu–Auga road in Ondo State.

The operation, carried out on Saturday, February 14, 2026, followed credible intelligence on the movement of suspected criminal elements within the area.

Confirming the development on Monday, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, Major Irabor Njoka, said troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Auga, acted on actionable human intelligence and swiftly intercepted the suspects along the Akunu–Auga axis.

According to him, the encounter led to a fierce exchange of gunfire during which two of the suspects were neutralised, while others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.

The operation was conducted jointly with personnel of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) and local vigilante groups.

Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 61 rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, a jackknife, a torchlight, suspected illicit drugs, charms and the sum of ₦39,000, among other personal effects.

Major Njoka said the operation underscores the Army’s resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and safeguard lives and property in the state.

He added that the brigade would sustain aggressive clearance and patrol operations across identified flashpoints, while urging residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to enhance ongoing efforts to maintain security.
