The National Publicity Secretary for the All Progressive Congress, (APC), Felix Morka has downplayed recent disagreements in Oyo State, describing these disagreements as normal.
He said this while speaking with ARISE NEWS on Wednesday.
“It’s not about crisis. It’s about people doing what they are supposed to do, which is take interest and assert themselves to those who are interested in running for offices. That’s what’s going on. It’s nothing to worry about; it’s normal banter at this point, nothing official yet,” he assured.
Morka further explained that as Nigeria’s largest political party, disagreements are inevitable when many aspirants compete for limited positions.
“We are the largest party in this country, and maybe on the continent. When you gather so many people together to pass through a narrow process of selection for those who govern the party, you are almost necessarily bound to have disagreements and competition,” he said.
Speaking on the N5.1 million payment made by Fubara Dagogo, Morka said aspirants must follow rules, and refund issues can be addressed with the party.
“No, we don’t ‘collect’. We publish information, guidelines, and rules that govern [the process], and we put an account number as we are required to do. Every individual who pays money chooses to pay. When they pay that money, they are presumed to already be fully aware and conscious of all the rules that apply.
“But once they pay, these are party men that we respect. If there are issues that concern them, they are able to come to the party and have conversations. Whether it’s about refunding the money or something else, those are possibilities,” he added.
Speaking on the APC Convention, Morka said the APC convention will showcase party unity and outline its vision for the future.
“Nigerians should expect a strong statement by the All Progressives Congress—really consolidating its structures as a political party and enacting its vision going forward.”
