The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State, Mr. Patrick Obianyo, has confirmed a massive influx of new members into the party since the entry of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, on December 31.
Obianyo disclosed this during a political event organised by the party to receive Hon. Barr. Lawrence Ezeudu, a former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, alongside over 200 of his supporters.
Speaking at the event held at the residence of the decampee politician in Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Obianyo said party officials have been overwhelmed by continuous requests from politicians seeking to join the ADC.
“There have been requests in our offices every day for us to visit and receive politicians into our party since Mr. Peter Obi joined us. Today we are in Ifitedunu, tomorrow we will be in another location, and it has continued like that for over a month now,” he said.
He urged new members to register at their ward levels, noting that although online registration exists, physical registration remains important for recognition within party structures.

Obianyo also disclosed that membership cards were being exhausted daily due to the influx, assuring members that the party would soon conduct a revalidation exercise and introduce improved membership cards.
“Even if the entire 200 million Nigerians join us, we will have enough cards for everyone,” he added.
Speaking after his reception, Ezeudu said joining the ADC was a decisive moment for him and his supporters, describing the move as driven by a strong desire for national change.
“Today is my Pentecost. I have never felt a stronger need to join a political party than now. The APC has failed us, and we must act to save this country,” he said.
Ezeudu expressed optimism that a new Nigeria is still achievable through collective effort within the ADC.
The event was attended by several ADC leaders, including the party’s former deputy governorship candidate, Dr. Ndubuisi Nwobu, as well as Prof. Chinyere Okunna, Dr. Chris Asoukwu, and other party chieftains.
