CNN Brazil, citing local authorities, reported that the crash occurred on Sunday morning in southwest Rio de Janeiro and involved two helicopters, leaving six people dead, including Tree. Officials have yet to issue a full independent confirmation of the victims’ identities.

Reports said Tree had been in Brazil shortly before the incident and was active on social media in the days leading up to the crash. His representatives have not yet publicly commented on the reports.

Tree rose to prominence for his distinctive visual style and genre-blending sound, gaining global recognition through tracks such as Life Goes On, Miss You and When I’m Down. He first emerged in the electronic music scene before breaking into mainstream pop with a series of viral releases.

His 2018 project Alien Boy helped cement his cult following, while later releases and collaborations expanded his reach across streaming platforms and social media, particularly TikTok, where his music generated millions of user-created videos.

At the time of his death, Tree was reportedly on a global tour supporting his latest studio album, which had taken him across North America and international destinations.
