Again, Wike, Supporters Vow To Deliver Rivers For Tinubu In 2027

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says Rivers State will vote massively for President Bola Tinubu in 2027, pledging not to repeat past political mistakes.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his supporters in Rivers State have renewed their pledge to deliver overwhelming votes for Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Wike reiterated the commitment on Tuesday while addressing supporters during his “Thank You Visit” to Abonnema in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he expressed gratitude to residents for their backing during the 2023 elections.

Thanking the people for standing firm at a difficult political moment, Wike said their support for Tinubu in 2023 would not be taken for granted, adding that lessons had been learnt from past decisions in the state’s governorship contest.

“In life, you don’t expect everybody to appreciate what you have done for them. For me and my team, we don’t take your support for granted, we must come and thank you,” he said.

Reflecting on the last election cycle, Wike stated that mistakes made in 2023 would not be repeated in 2027.

“What is important in life is that when you make a mistake, you come out and say it. The mistake we made in 2023 will not be repeated. As far as Rivers State is concerned, the door is shut. There is no other person we will support other than Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in 2027,” he declared.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Rivers Elders Council, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba, praised Wike for his political choices in 2023, describing them as decisive actions that stabilised the state.

Alabraba hailed Wike as a major figure in contemporary Nigerian politics, citing his pragmatic leadership style and what he described as courageous decisions, including supporting the emergence of an Ijaw governor after decades.

He described the alleged failure of Governor Siminalayi Fubara to openly appreciate Wike’s role as an “aberration,” insisting that the Ijaw people were not known for ingratitude.

“You took two critical decisions. First, you sacrificed everything to enthrone a successor from the Ijaw ethnic nationality after 24 years. Second, you positioned Rivers State to support Bola Tinubu in 2023 while your party retained other seats. That singular decision is what has kept Rivers State afloat today,” Alabraba said.
