United States Africa Command, has confirmed carrying out another coordinated air strike against ISIS fighters in North-East Nigeria alongside Nigerian authorities.
In a statement posted on X on Monday, AFRICOM said the latest operation was conducted on May 17, 2026, describing it as an additional strike in the region.
The command stated, “On May 17, 2026, U.S. Africa Command, in coordination with the Government of Nigeria, conducted additional kinetic strikes against ISIS in northeastern Nigeria.”
AFRICOM added that no American or Nigerian personnel were harmed during the operation.
The latest strike follows recent joint US-Nigerian operations targeting ISIS-linked fighters in Nigeria’s North-East, including an operation that reportedly killed senior ISIS figure Abu-Bilal al-Minuki in Borno State.
