Ademola Adeleke:  Oyetola Is Free to Challenge My Election Victory at the Supreme Court 

He however said he is willing to work with Oyetola for the improvement of Osun State.

The governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has said that Adegboyega Oyetola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, has the right to challenge his appeal court win at the supreme court.

 Governor Adeleke was reaffirmed the winner of the Osun state government election by the Appeal Court, following a case filed by the opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), who claimed that Adeleke won the election due to overvoting. 

However, a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of Justices, affirmed Adeleke as the winner of the election on the 24th of March, 2022.

The governor, when asked if he was concerned about a probable Supreme Court case, said he was not bothered, that Oyetola has the right to approach the Supreme Court on the matter. 

He emphasized that his only plan was on moving Osun State forward. He said, “Although he has not called to congratulate me, I’m still hoping he will do that because we don’t have any other state than Osun state here. So, I’m ready. My hands are open. Please, let’s come together and move Osun state forward.”

Speaking on his plans for Osun State, Adeleke listed his accomplishments and more things he planned on doing for the state. 

The who was able to pay the arrears of salaries and pensions that were owed to the people, stated that they had been able to set up a digital economy in the state.

 Also, he said that road constructions had been ongoing, with one being completed already.

 He also alluded that they were working on providing free medical care, providing a better educational system for the citizens, and helping communities throughout Osun State. 

When asked about the origin of the funds he had used to implement these actions, he stated that he had “blocked the leakages” and that he worked had in hand with his team in order to make good decisions and forge ahead for the betterment of Osun State.

Adeleke stated that seeing his people happy with what he had done in Osun State encouraged him to do better as a governor. “The Osun people have spoken, they said they want Governor Adeleke because they are happy with me. That always encourages me to do more.”
