Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has warned against any attempt to transmit election results directly from local government areas to the state capital.
Adeleke spoke shortly after casting his vote in the Osun governorship election, calling for strict adherence to the established collation process.
He said results should move from polling units to wards and then to local government areas before reaching the state level.
“The pattern of voting should be from units to ward and to local government. Not that they will take local government connection straight to state capital. That’s not acceptable,” Adeleke said.
The governor described any attempt to bypass the process as a form of rigging.
“That’s a form of rigging,” he said.
Adeleke also alleged that the All Progressives Congress was planning to rig the election and had obtained fake ballot papers.
“I hold it on authority that the APC are trying to rig and have some fake ballot papers. I want Osun people to watch out for that too,” he said.
He urged voters and security agencies to remain vigilant and ensure that the election process is free and fair.
Adeleke said his priority was to ensure voters were allowed to perform their civic duty without interference.
“All we want is free and fair election, so that people can perform their civic duty,” he said.
