The African Democratic Congress (ADC), has described the latest statement by the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), alleging unpaid salaries within its party, as an irresponsible falsehood and another laughable piece of cheap propaganda from a government that has failed Nigerians on every important measure of governance.
In a reaction to a statement by Dele Alake, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi said, ”We find it rather amusing that a government that has presided over one of the most painful periods of economic hardship in our country’s recent history now considers itself qualified to lecture anyone about the welfare of workers.
”But perhaps we should not be surprised. When a government has no achievements to defend, it must manufacture allegations to discuss,” Abdullahi stated.
The spokesman of the party added: “The ADC categorically rejects this allegation as an irresponsible falsehood, deliberately concocted to mislead Nigerians and distract attention from the monumental failures of the Tinubu administration.
“If the APC has any credible evidence to support its claims, it should produce it rather than continue to insult Nigerians with fabricated stories masquerading as press statements.
”We understand APC’s desperation to change the conversation. But Nigerians are not fools. The real issue is not the imaginary crisis that the APC is desperately trying to manufacture within the ADC.
“The real issue is the crisis that President Bola Tinubu and his government have created in the homes of millions of Nigerians.
”The real issue is the cost of living. The real issue is the absence of jobs and opportunities for our young people. The real issue is the insecurity that continues to threaten lives, livelihoods, and communities across the country.
”These are the issues on which this government must be judged, and no amount of propaganda can redeem it.
“It is becoming increasingly clear that the APC has decided to run its 2027 campaign on allegations against the opposition rather than achievements of its own.
“That is what happens when a government has spent years making promises it cannot keep and excuses it cannot defend.”, Abdullahi stressed.
APC’s Billion SUV Gifts Insult to Suffering Nigerians, Says ADC
Meanwhile, the ADC, has described the distribution of seven luxury SUVs, reportedly worth about N1 billion, to youth leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as an obscene display of extravagance at a time when millions of Nigerians are struggling to afford food, transportation and other basic necessities.
In a statement issued on Monday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the development exposed the widening disconnect between the sacrifices demanded of Nigerians and the privileges enjoyed by the ruling party’s political establishment.
“President Tinubu asks Nigerians to endure hardship while his party distributes luxury vehicles to its political operatives. Apparently, sacrifice is for ordinary Nigerians, while luxury is reserved for those working to keep the APC in power.
“The APC has found the resources to move its campaign officials around Nigeria. What it has failed to find is a convincing way to make life affordable for the Nigerians whose votes it now seeks.”
The ADC said it was particularly disturbing that the vehicles were reportedly provided for grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, rather than any initiative directly addressing youth unemployment or economic hardship.
“Seven APC youth leaders can receive luxury vehicles, but millions of young Nigerians are still waiting for the jobs, opportunities and economic relief they were promised. Is this the APC’s idea of youth empowerment?” he said.
