The Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Engr. Aminu Usman, has described his nomination as running mate to Governor Umar Namadi for the 2027 governorship election as a renewed call to service and responsibility to the people of the state.
Usman stated this during an interaction with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa State Council, where he expressed appreciation to Governor Namadi for the confidence reposed in him by selecting him to serve alongside him for another term.
The deputy governor said the nomination was not only an honour but also a responsibility that required sincerity, humility and dedication to the people of the state.
“I consider this nomination not only a great honour, but also a renewed call to service and responsibility to the good people of Jigawa State.
“I remain profoundly grateful to His Excellency, the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, for the confidence and trust he continually has in me,” he said.
Usman prayed to Almighty Allah to guide and strengthen the leadership to continue serving the people of Jigawa with sincerity and dedication.
He also commended members of the Correspondents’ Chapel for their professionalism and constitutional responsibility of informing and educating the public.
“As members of the press, you remain important partners in the development of our dear state.
“We look forward to your continued cooperation, constructive engagement and responsible reporting as we work together for peace and progress of the state,” he said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Zangina Muhammad, assured the deputy governor of the members’ support and cooperation towards the development of the state.
Muhammad said the chapel comprised journalists representing reputable national and international media organisations who were committed to ethical journalism and reporting issues of public interest.
He said the journalists would continue to highlight government policies and programmes, while also holding the government accountable to the people.
“We will remain committed to responsible journalism that aligns with the policies and programmes of the government, holds the government accountable, tells compelling stories highlighting local culture, resilience and community challenges, among others,” Muhammad said.
